AN EXPLOSIVE + EXHILARATING NEW
ADVENTURE IN CHINESE ARTISTRY.
Memory 5D+ celebrates China's rich culture with a sumptuous $6 million theatrical feast for the senses. Seventeen of China's premiere musical artists – many playing rare ancient instruments seldom heard in the U.S. – join a cast of 45 in this lavish production that fuses live performance and sophisticated visual artistry to create a spectacular odyssey.
5D+ is a breathtaking fantasia of music and dance and the latest multimedia technology, enveloping the audience in a state of wonder and joy. The panoramic visual spectacle is filled with occasional aromatic scents including jasmine and roses.
Prior to an international tour, this landmark world premiere production begins at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium with two performances only: Friday, May 26 and Saturday, May 27 each at 8pm.
Tickets are priced from $38 to $128 for Memory 5D+ and are available now (scroll down) and Ticketmaster.
The historic and grand Pasadena Civic is located at 300 East Green Street, Pasadena, CA 91101.
Please note: The panoramic special effects used in this performance contain explosive sounds, flashing lights and aromatic scents.
"With her long black hair pulled back, Chinese impresario Ulan Xuerong leans forward as she speaks in emphatic Mandarin about 'Memory 5D+' — her $6-million multimedia extravaganza which has its world premiere at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on May 26 and May 27, for just two performances.
'China has so many extraordinary musicians, and I've long wanted to bring them to a world audience,' Xuerong says. 'So three years ago I began developing this show.'
'Memory 5D+' marries digital animation and projection with virtuoso Chinese singers and musicians playing traditional instruments, all knitted together by a story inspired by ancient Chinese cosmology.
John Hughes, a Hollywood special effects wizard who has worked on 'Frozen,' 'Moana,' 'Kung Fu Panda 2' and 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,' is serving as visual consultant and co-writer to help make the production accessible to Americans…" READ MORE AT LATIMES.COM
